post Video!

July 27th, 2010

Here is a video that captures the essence of Packing for Mars. My wonderful publisher, W.W. Norton, had it made. It made me laugh out loud, something my own books only rarely do. Feel free to post, forward, blog about, tweet about, or ignore. Thanks, guys.

  1. I am SO excited! I hope I can finally make it out to the book tour! I’ve been trying to since Spook! Mary is my absolute favorite author.

  3. I’m a fan since I read Stiff, always looking for a new one by Ms Roach. Love the roach on the home page, nice touch. Hey what happened, no book tour in Florida? We really do know how to read down here, what you have heard otherwise is just a myth…possible subject for your next book.

  4. HA HAH! I know from personal experience, being out in the desert prospecting and soul-searching for weeks on end, that personal hygiene isn’t something to take for granted. That was great- thanks :)

  5. Mary Roach’s ‘Stiff’ is a great example of making a ‘dead’ subject into a lively one. I’m looking forward to ‘Packing for Mars’

  6. Umm, like where are the hordes of fans and devotees. Is there a funnier “science” writer on Earth? I still imagine Mary tromping around China with that poor translater only to face down a Communist official with why she was REALLY in China. For all the times I’ve been bored to death listening to the umpteenth feel-good story on NPR, I read Mary Roach and I have my antidote. I’ll be seeing her at Vroman’s in Pasadena and dragging at least one friend. Even if I have to tell them that we’re going to do charity work or a free movie to get them to go.
